Get to know your STUCO!

The Student Council Body of 2007-2008 has been enthusiastic and determined to work at the International School of Panama since the day of elections.  All students, such as Billy Shyne and Marlene Stoute, our 9th grade representatives, have shown great enthusiasm to make this school year the most fun and action packed yet! Harold Cooklin and Adriana Guzman, the 10th grade representatives have set out on a mission to help reform the student handbook, in order to adjust rules and regulations.  Maria Mavrokordatos and Theresa Shwark, the 11th reps, are certain they’ll be able to bring the greatest ideas to the table for the upcoming spirit week, which is themed as various television shows, to take place at the end of October. Kanishka Daryanani and Raquel Fonseca, 12th reps, have already planned a series of events for their senior class, and are also collaborating with all representatives to come up with new and exciting class t-shirts. Chan Woo, our treasurer, was able to count out $180 after the Staff-Student Hockey challenge last month, in which the students made a close call against the  teachers.  Sarah Ahn plays a vital role as this year’s secretary, as she has been recording all events and actions requested in our Suggestion Box located in Sharon’s office.  Derek Cannavaggio, 2nd Vice President, has been the main supporter of Free Clothes, along with Jaime Dunn who has been coordinating a series of activities for the Barbeque and upcoming spirit week.  Andrew Hotsko, the vice President, has done an outstanding job at creating our weekly ‘Trivia Tuesdays’, providing a series of creative themes to challenge all classes and award points which will later add up for a thrilling prize.  Last, but definitely not least, our Teacher Advisor, Mrs. Preston has provided us with great ideas, tips for leadership (as we all attended the Leadership Conference during a weekend in September) and heightened eagerness to make this year the best yet.  On behalf of the Student Council, we are all ready to give it our all and provide our fellow students with as much assistance and collaboration as possible to make sure that our voices never go unheard.

Sincerely, your student body President,
Mary Oden-Bull
